GENERAL DESCRIPTION

To provide and coordinate all clinical aspects of care for the patients receiving proton radiation therapy, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve predetermined quality outcomes.

SCOPE: Performs clinical and management functions at the service level to assure patient care. These activities are performed in a dynamic environment through interactions with the radiation therapy team within the department and in the multidisciplinary care center.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an approved RN program, with bachelors degree in nursing preferred; supplemented with two (2) years of related clinical nursing experience; Oklahoma RN licensure required.

Required: One year of experience in patient care.
Preferred: Two years of oncology experience.
Preferred: PACU experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Educates patients in the proton therapy clinics; responds to consultations made by physicians.
  • Performs patient histories and physical examinations under physician supervision; evaluates results and monitors treatment plans; maintains medical records.
  • Oversees patient schedules, appointments, and procedures
  • Participates in educational in-services and seminars for health care providers at the ProCure Proton Therapy Center as well as the surrounding area; maintains current certification through continuing education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
