Potential Need for Proton Therapy

National

  • According to the American Cancer Society there will be more than 1.5 million new cancer cases diagnosed this year.2
    • Of these, about 60 percent (900,000 per year) will seek radiation therapy at some point during care.1
    • Using a conservative estimate that 30 percent of these 900,000 patients would benefit from proton therapy, approximately 270,000 patients could seek this technology.
  • Today's six operating centers can treat an estimated 6,000 patients each year.
