Knowing what to expect as you begin your treatment is important. We are focused on providing patients with personalized attention and will assist you with a range of needs, from rescheduling appointments to coordinating lodging. We are passionate about your care and supporting your emotional, medical and day-to-day needs.

CONSULTATION

During your first visit with your radiation oncologist, the medical team will begin the process of collecting the information needed to plan your treatment. There will be an in-depth interview, a physical examination and a thorough review of your medical record.

TREATMENT

After the consultation, a CT scan simulation will take place to ensure the highest level of precision during your proton therapy. Using the scans, your Care Team will determine how many treatments you'll need and the best equipment to use for your particular tumor.

Proton therapy is painless, precise and has very few side effects for most patients. A treatment session usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, however the actual time with the proton beam on is only about a minute. The number of treatments necessary varies according to the type of tumor being treated. In general, treatments are given five days a week for four to eight weeks.

Since proton therapy is precise, patients must be in a specific, predetermined position for the beam to hit its target. They must also lie still while the beam is on. The Care Team will determine your proper positioning, and you will be automatically "lined up" before each treatment using a state-of-the-art robotic positioning system. The center also uses advanced immobilization technology that is comfortable and will ensure that you lie still during the short time the beam is on.

At all times, your Care Team will be nearby to assist you should you need anything.

Passionate PATIENT CARE TEAM

At the ProCure Proton Therapy Center, you will be treated by a dedicated Care Team including a radiation oncologist, nurse and radiation therapist. These medical professionals will supervise your therapy throughout your course of treatment. We understand the importance of a personal relationship during care. Your Care Team will make it a point to know you and your loved ones and will look for ways to make you comfortable while you are with us.

A member of your Care Team will greet you when you walk in the door, assist you as you prepare for your daily treatment and make sure that you are fully informed about your progress. You will also meet with your radiation oncologist once a week to review treatment progress and discuss any concerns you have regarding your treatment. Of course, at any time throughout your treatment, your Care Team is available to answer any questions you may have.

ASSISTANCE WITH ADDITIONAL MEDICAL NEEDS

Your nurse will be your medical liaison and help coordinate additional medical services you might need during treatment, including blood tests, scans, medical appointments and other cancer treatment you might need in tandem with your ongoing proton therapy treatment.

FOLLOW-UP Support Post Treatment

ProCure Proton Therapy Center is dedicated to ongoing care for our patients. Your Care Team will remain in contact with you and your referring physician after you've completed treatment. After your last treatment session, a three-month follow up appointment will be scheduled for a medical evaluation.
